MINT FIELD CONTINGENCIA

Hailing from Mexico City, Mint Field's sedated psychedelia caught our attention back in April when they released 'Natural'. Yesterday the duo announced their second album Sentimiento Mundial alongside its chugging lead single 'Contingencia'. Recorded in London at Wilton Way Studios with producer Syd Kemp, 'Contingencia' sees driving drums grounding thickly strummed power chords, delivered with a biting guitar tone, which doesn't feel dissimilar to the sci-fi-inspired krautrock of London-based legends Scottibrains. Subsiding into a more delicate verse, vocalist Estrella Sánchez' singing is pure and ghostly, paying tribute to shoegaze tropes of hushed vocals set against a washy background of driven guitars. The band explain: "'Contingencia' is one of the most energetic tracks from our upcoming album. A track about those times when we feel like we don't have any other choice or way of doing things, and that sometimes we need to see the light that is in front of us. I really love this part that said "No puedes vivir ciega de lo que puedes ver" ("You can't live blind to what you can see")." Sentimiento Mundial will arrive on the 25th of September via Felte Records. -Holly Mullineaux
